When the Mr and I married we could not have been more different! I was the ultra-modern, fast paced career woman, and he was the laid back, log cabin, country boy. I loved folk and oldies music, he loved country. I loved lots of windows, city lights, and subdivisions; he loved rustic homes, lots of land, and the great outdoors.
We live in a log cabin on 8 acres and raise chickens, turkeys, rabbits, and pigs. We have gardens, fruit trees, and hope to attempt bee-keeping again soon. God is good! 26 years ago I would never have dreamed that this would be my life but it is and I am so thankful!
So, what is the point of this post? While I have come to love our country life, I was finding the dark wood in the log cabin a bit (ok, a lot) depressing. Even in the middle of the day the living room was dark! We talked about putting drywall up on the exterior walls but it didn’t happen. One day, as I sat here pondering what could be done, a light bulb went off…white-wash the walls! I enlisted the help of a friend and we began the transformation. What a difference it made!
