Our family loves broccoli but I admit, we get tired of having steamed broccoli every time. This recipe satisfies our love of broccoli AND our love of garlic.
INGREDIENTS
1 head broccoli, broken into florets
2 tablespoons sesame oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/3 cup stock/broth (I used beef because I had a pot simmering, but you could use chicken or vegetable stock)
1 tablespoon corn starch
In a small bowl, mix the garlic, soy sauce, stock, and corn starch. Set aside.
In a large saute pan, heat the sesame oil. Add the broccoli florets and cook for 3-4 minutes stirring frequently to prevent burning.
Reduce heat to medium low, add the garlic sauce, and cook for an additional 3 minutes to allow the broccoli to absorb the sauce. The corn starch allows the sauce to thicken slightly.
If you wanted this to have an Asian taste, you could add a couple of teaspoons of Hoisin Sauce….next time 🙂
