Once you have tried these beans, they will quickly become your favorite.
We have a dear friend who visits once or twice a year from Germany. Our church supports his church plant in Heidelberg. Each time he is here we have him over for dinner. I always ask what he wants and his response is always “beans”. Thus, these have become known as Sebastian Beans at our house.
INGREDIENTS
1 pound ground beef, browned and drained well
1/2 pound bacon, browned and drained
1 cup onion, chopped
2-22 oz cans Bush’s Baked Beans (any variety)
1 can black beans, partially drained
1 can red beans or kidney beans, drained
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vinegar
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup bbq sauce (your favorite)
1 teaspoon dijon mustard (stone ground is also good)
2 cups frozen baby lima beans
Place all ingredients into a crockpot, mix well, and cook for 6-8 hours on low heat. How simple is that??
Oh, look! Someone forgot to add the lima beans… I wonder who that was?
They are still delicious even without the lima beans.
Seriously, these are some of the best beans you will ever eat.
