CINCINNATI CHILI

November 8, 2018 by Debbie 1 Comment

Chili on pasta? It sounds like a strange combination to me, but if you’ve never tried it, now is the time to change that.

The combination of spices in this chili is amazing! It’s a perfect balance between sweet, spicy, tangy, with a few things that make you say, “hmmm…what is that?” It is generally made using all ground beef but I switched it up and used a combination of ground beef and ground pork.

INGREDIENTS
1 pound lean ground beef, browned
1 pound lean ground pork, browned
16 oz crushed tomatoes
3 tablespoons tomato paste
2 cups beef broth
3 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 large onion, chopped

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Mix all ingredients together in the crockpot. Cook on low heat for 6-8 hours.
2. Serve over cooked spaghetti with toppings of your choice.

This recipe could easily be cooked on the stovetop or instant pot.

This is not a spicy chili. If you prefer more heat I would suggest serving hot sauce on the side.
